Join us for an inspiring day of choral music-making as we explore the exquisite madrigals and part-songs of the Elizabethan composer John Dowland and his contemporaries. Renowned for their rich harmonies, expressive text setting, and timeless beauty, Dowland’s works offer singers a rewarding and enjoyable musical experience.
Whether you are an experienced choral singer or simply enjoy singing with others, this workshop provides a welcoming opportunity to develop your ensemble skills, deepen your understanding of Renaissance music, and spend a day immersed in some of the finest vocal repertoire of the period.
Led by an experienced conductor, the workshop will include guidance on style, interpretation, and vocal technique, culminating in an informal sharing of the music explored during the day.
Music: digital scores download link provided in booking confirmation email. Printed scores are available for an additional £10.
Places are limited, so early booking is recommended. Come and discover the beauty, wit, and emotional depth of Dowland’s madrigals in the company of fellow singers for a day of rewarding music-making.
Bonus: guest appearance from our very own George Dallas’ Archway Mountain Lightnin’ Boys, a North London-based bluegrass band, performing their reworkings of Dowland’s Come Again, Byrd’s Civitas sancti tui, and more.
