Join Orlando Chamber Choir

Orlando Chamber Choir is always looking for enthusiastic new members. All you need is a voice that blends with the sound of the current group of singers, and the willingness to commit to weekly rehearsals, three terms each year - we are not a project choir. Good sight reading is essential. Orlando Chamber Choir mainly performs works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods so an interest in "old music" is helpful, too.

Orlando Chamber Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 19:00 until 21:30 at the Parish Hall of St John's Hyde Park [ map ]. There is an all-day Saturday rehearsal each term, and a dress rehearsal at the concert venue the afternoon before each performance. There are three Orlando Chamber Choir terms each year. Choir contributions are about £95 per term including sheet music.

You are very welcome to come and join us for one of our rehearsals, preferably early in a term when we are still working on the notes. We will provide you with sheet music so that you can sing along. To hear Orlando Chamber Choir at its musical best, please come and listen to one of our concerts!

Aspiring members will be asked to take a voice test with our musical director Richard Wilberforce. The audition consists of exercises testing intonation, voice range and sight reading. You will also be asked to prepare a short solo piece which Richard will be happy to accompany on the piano.

Orlando Chamber Choir is not just a group of ambitious singers but also a friendly bunch. After rehearsals we usually round off the evening in the Monkey Puzzle Pub.

If you want to join us for a rehearsal or if you would like further information about the choir, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to hearing (from) you!
